The House

The recently renovated, 2,300-square foot Sissons House stands in reverent reflection of its historical origins. The parlor has deep hues of grey, teal and plum with gold accents and comfortable seating for up to 10 guests, while its game table features a chess board with Civil War-themed playing pieces. The home's original layout featured a dogtrot, which functioned as an open-air breezeway for pets and family members to pass through the heart of the home to the outdoor kitchen. Today, this dogtrot has been transformed to an enclosed and enlarged hallway that highlights the detailed trim work of the original soaring arches.

Each of the three bedrooms has a purposeful theme: the soothing, pink and blue room, with its king-size bed, celebrates the feminine strength of southern women; the rich, hunter green room, also with a king-size bed, reminds us of courageous soldiers of yesteryear; and the children's bunk room, with its two triple bunks to accommodate six sleepers, creates the ideal space for a grand pajama party for the ages. The kitchen is fully outfitted with all the comforts of cooking at home, with a light-filled bay window and an eat-in breakfast nook. Complimentary, fresh coffee grounds are supplied by Chattanooga's Goodman Coffee Roasters, which specializes in small- batch, in-house roasting. The dining room offers the perfect setting to host a sophisticated cocktail hour, dinner party, or family game night. Each of the new beds has been adorned with stylish linens and bedding, as well as extra blankets and pillows for the cooler months. The home provides two bathrooms: one has dual sinks and a large shower, while the second has a separated sink/toilet area and separate shower and soaking tub. We have partnered with Chattanooga's own Good Fortune Soap Company to stock luxurious, locally crafted toiletries for your enjoyment.

While games, meals and conversations are sure to fill your time at Sissons House, the home also provides Wi-Fi and four smart televisions for when modernity beckons. A new washer and dryer are available, as well, should you need to refresh your laundry. More than an acre of property surrounds the home, providing a private, quiet respite from the demands of the outside world. An outdoor veranda, with a sprawling table and lustrous lighting, offers the opportunity for al fresco dining, while the outdoor fire pit creates the perfect communal location to share evening ghost stories under the stars. Finally, ample parking is available on site, but if you'd like to leave the car behind, St. Elmo's thriving business district is a short walking distance away.
